All of our yoga classes educate students about proper alignment and encourage students to work at their own level. Most classes include many or all of the following: meditation, breath awareness, sun salutations or other spinal warm-ups, standing poses, seated poses, twists, backbends and relaxation. We strive to teach in a way that makes yoga accessible and beneficial for body, mind and soul.
A gentler practice that incorporates principles from many styles of yoga which includes: flexibility, strength, balance, breath awareness and concentration. A good choice for those newer to yoga.
Vinyasa Flow classes are inspired by the postures and principles of Ashtanga Yoga. This is a flowing style of yoga that synchronizes breath with movement for a class that is sweaty fun. This class moves at a faster pace that the Hatha classes and incorporates more strength poses. As such, it is not recommended for those new to yoga.
Yin Yoga uses passive postures held for longer periods of time to allow for deep opening in the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and spine. This practice uses mostly sitting or lying postures for promoting growth, clearing energetic blockages, and enhancing circulation. For athletes-- holding these seated poses during yin yoga helps release ligaments, joints & fascia--- making them more pliable and releasing hydrochloric acid. The more range of motion you have in your ligaments and joints the more range of motion you will have during your yang practice-- (running, weights training, Yoga asana practice, Pilates, etc.) The stronger you can become. This class is open to beginner and experienced students.
